Werk It is a feminist endeavor to make podcasting a more equitable industry.   

We’ve created this survey as a tool to increase pay transparency, help you negotiate fair pay for yourself, offer fair pay to people that you employ, and build realistic staff budgets for your podcasts.   

The survey takes less than five minutes to complete, and your responses will be confidential and anonymous.

  • The first part asks about your job, your work experience, your employer, and your pay rate.

  • The second part asks demographic questions, and while completing this section is optional, we hope that you’ll respond to help us build a better picture of how pay may be affected by sexism, racism, ableism, ageism, homophobia, transphobia, and other discrimination.

Although your individual data will be confidential and anonymous, we will aggregate and publish the collective survey results on the Werk It website so that everyone can benefit from it.

We’d like to get as many podcasters as possible to complete this survey so please share it with your networks! We have two caveats for participation.

  • This survey is focused solely on payment for work making podcasts or supporting the production of podcasts (e.g. as a publicist, salesperson, marketer, etc.).  If you do not currently make a podcast or support podcast production, please do not complete the survey.

  • This survey is for podcasters who are working in the United States and/or are being paid in United States Dollars. If that’s not you and you’d like to create a version for podcasters in your location/currency, please feel free to copy our survey design.

The survey will remain open until March 1, 2019. Thank you for taking time to participate.  We will share the survey results early this spring, and hope that this will be the first of many widely sharable tools that Werk It will create to make podcasting a better space for creators and listeners alike.
